The Open Door - A Poem

Long vast stretches of doors
It’s quiet and dim
There’s no one here but
me.
I try to open them
But they are locked
I am stuck
In this endless hall.
I start banging on them
One by one
But no one answers
I get scared.
I finally give up
And look up to heaven
And cry
Pleading for help.
As I wipe the tears
I turn my head
Seeing a light
Only a faint glimmer.
Walking near it
I see the door
Cracked open
I push it even more.
The light illuminates
Everything in its way
I cannot see
What’s on the other side.
But I step through
Because it is the only way
Then I think
Was it open this whole time?
